The story of a photographer
I first picked up a camera back in 2017 and it was the best decision I have ever made. I have always had a passion for all things art but it took me some time to work out where I wanted my life to go and how I would express myself creatively in a job that made me happy. I explored cooking back in 2015 and became an Apprentice Chef and did that for a year but I knew that wasn't the one for me. I then moved to Music and learnt to play piano and entered a class at school for a year yet something was still off. I was always drawing and dancing growing up yet nothing was sticking for me.
I joined a photography class in college in 2017 and instantly I was hitched. Now that I found out what the passion was, I stuck to it and worked hard freelancing at any chance I got. I collaborate with local models and artist that are looking to build their portfolio and never charged them for my services. I spend 3 years doing this, building a following, getting my name out there and building my portfolio. After 3 whole years of free photoshoots I finally felt confident enough in my work and skills to begin charging. At this time, my family was struggling financially, with my dad being an only parent whilst my mum was in hospital. We lost my mum to cancer in 2010 which meant expensive education and photography courses for me was not an option. I went to public school for my last 6 years of education and didn't have the chance to study photography to receive the qualifications that I would have received. I am a self taught photographer with no qualification in it yet you can see that with hard work, determination and excessive amounts of trial and error. I have developed my skills to a professional level.
My goals for my business and where I want it to take me seems like an over-stretch to some people, however to me, that's a mind set that everyone needs to get past in order to achieve their goals. For my business I want to sell art online through online store platforms such as Etsy or Redbubble as well as my own store on this website in the form of illustrative prints and creative imagery that stands out and is different. I wish to sell my presets and a editing/business course for photographers wanting to start their photography journey or are just like how I was back in 2017 with not enough money to afford an expensive photography course but have the desire to create art for a living. I am currently in phase 2 of my plan which is to start my business shooting events, weddings, and portrait sessions. I am so thankful and grateful for how far I have come and cannot wait to continue to grow in my craft and expand my following as a content creator.
